Start-up Platforms for New Ideas is an acceleration programme addressed to originators who wish to develop their business in one of five voivodeships of the Eastern Poland microregion (Podkarpackie, Świętokrzyskie, Lubelskie, Podlaskie, Warmińsko-Mazurskie). The objective of the programme is to assist in the creation of an innovative product or service and the development of a scalable business model. We provide the participants of the programme with a place for work, accounting and legal services, and tax consultancy. We equip them with skills related to the development of presentations and public speeches. Under the programme we provide mentors who advise on how to build a team, prepare a development strategy and achieve the planned objectives.
The programme’s aim is also to build local ecosystems of support for start-up entrepreneurship. Start-up Platforms offer additional forms of support ensured by local government authorities, universities and investors. Participants will be able to benefit from reductions and discounts guaranteed by municipal local governments or from contact networks of companies and funds being partners of individual Platforms.
The programme is open to originators under the age of 35 – authors of innovative solutions that can be applied in everyday life or in economic practice. The criteria for the selection of ideas include market potential and the possibility of turning ideas into profitable products. Ideas are selected by experts – business representatives – who are experienced in evaluating innovative businesses. For each selected project, an individual business incubation programme lasting for a maximum of 10 months will be developed, whose aim will be to finally prepare a profitable and scalable business model that has been verified by the market. After the completion of the business incubation programme, companies will have a chance of obtaining a non-refundable grant for entering into the market.
The pilot Start-up Platforms for New Ideas programme will be launched in March 2016. The acceptance of ideas will be started by three accelerators implementing acceleration programmes in the following towns: Kielce, Rzeszów, Stalowa Wola, Lublin, Zamość, Świdnik, Tarnobrzeg, Białystok, Olsztyn, Elbląg, Ełk, Suwałki and Łomża. Each of them is supported by several dozen institutions such as business incubators, Venture Capital funds, local governments, enterprises and universities.
